OMNES: The Journal of Multicultural Society는 2010년 창간된 다문화연구와 관련한 국내 유일 영문저널이다. 본 학술지는 전(全)지구적 이주현상, 다문화 사회에서 나타나는 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 전반에 나타나는 현상과 변화를 다학제적 관점에서 다룬 연구논문들을 싣고 있다. 현재 OMNES는 2016년 한국연구재단 등재학술지(KCI)로 등재된 이후 SCOPUS와 SSCI 등재를 목표로 세계 각지의 연구자들과 활동가들에게 다문화에 대한 폭넓은 이해와 시각을 제공하고 있다.

We are currently accepting manuscripts for OMNES: The Journal of Multicultural Society Vol.13 No.2 that will be published on July 31, 2023. To be considered for the upcoming issue, OMNES 13(2), please submit your manuscript by April 30, 2023. Submissions are open all year round.

About the Journal

OMNES, meaning “everyone” in Latin, is a peer-reviewed biannual publication. We welcome manuscripts that deal with themes concerning the global movement of people, human security related to migration, multicultural or multiracial society, cultural diversity, refugees, social integration, nationalism, culture, identity, civil rights and other relevant topics. We are seeking an interdisciplinary approach in the area of politics, economy, society, culture, language, literature, history, philosophy, and the arts.
OMNES publishes rigorous theoretical or empirical research articles, review articles, research notes, and book reviews. The editors invite submissions from researchers in all fields of social science and humanities.
OMNES is indexed and abstracted in Korea Citation Index (KCI) as of 2016.

OMNES welcomes manuscripts that deal with themes concerning the global movement of people, human security related to migration, multicultural society, social integration, and other relevant topics. OMNES publishes rigorous theoretical or empirical research articles, review articles, research notes, and book reviews. Policy/opinion pieces may be considered for publication.

The acceptance criteria for all papers are the quality and originality of the research and its scholarly significance to our readership. Submitted manuscripts should be original pieces of work that have not been published in other places or not currently on offer to another publisher. Except where otherwise stated, manuscripts are peer reviewed by three anonymous reviewers and the editor. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Editorial Board, who reserves the right to refuse any material for publication.

Manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 words including references and endnotes. They should be written in a clear, concise, direct style. Where contributions are judged as acceptable for publication on the basis of content, the Editor and the Publisher reserve the right to modify typescripts to eliminate ambiguity and repetition and improve communication between author and reader. If extensive alterations are required, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision.

Instruction for Authors

OMNES: The Journal of Multicultural Society

All articles in this journal have undergone editorial screening and double-blind peer review by three reviewers. Reviewers include the editorial board and scholars in various fields.
Authors should submit manuscripts according to the following procedures. Authors should not reveal their identity on any page, except the title page which will not be sent to the reviewers. Manuscripts should be double-spaced. The manuscript should contain.

1. i) Title page should include the title, all authors' names, all authors’ institutional affiliations (degree, position, department, institution, and nationality), all authors’ e-mail addresses, the corresponding author’s complete mailing address and telephone number, and brief biographical notes for all authors that describe each author’s research interests. Any acknowledgments, disclosures, or funding information should also be included on this title page.
2. ii) Cover letter must be accompanied by the following statement:
   My name is (PRINT YOUR NAME) and I would like to have my manuscript entitled " (PRINT THE TITLE OF YOUR MANUSCRIPT) " be considered for publication in OMNES: The Journal of Multicultural Society. This letter indicates that the aforementioned manuscript has not been published elsewhere, nor is it being considered in any other journals. 3. iii) An abstract of no more than 200 words and 5-6 keywords. In cases of multiple authorships, we need the preceding information for each of the authors, but one author should be clearly designated as the contact author. Once designated, that individual will receive all communications from OMNES. Please submit the manuscript online or send it via e-mail to omnes@sm.ac.kr. E-mail submissions will not be returned. Copyright on contributions passes to OMNES upon publication.

The references list should contain the complete publication details. OMNES editorial office will send detailed instructions for OMNES's endnote and reference style upon request. Please also consult OMNES website, www.omnesjournal.org or contact the editor at omnes@sm.ac.kr.

Manuscript Length and Style

Spelling. The Journal uses US spelling and authors should therefore follow the latest edition of the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Abbreviations. In general, terms should not be abbreviated unless they are used repeatedly and the abbreviation is helpful to the reader. Initial use of the word should be in full, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses, thereafter use the abbreviation only.

Figures & Tables. The Journal does not accept color figures. Figures & Tables should be submitted in black and white only. The caption of a figure should go beneath the image with the source credited at the end of the caption. The captions of a table should be above the table, with the source included as a note below the table beginning with the word Note.

Length & Style. A manuscript may be up to 10,000 words including notes and references; excluding 200 words for abstract. The manuscript pages should be numbered consecutively, including tables, graphs, and appendices. All the text, endnotes, bibliographic citations, and appendix materials in a manuscript must be double spaced, printed in a 12 point Times New Roman font and in Microsoft Word file. Tables (texts within tables) may be single-spaced. Authors should submit manuscripts following the reference styles in the examples below. For specific formatting style of citations and references, please refer to articles in the most recent issue of the OMNES. For unusual style or formatting issues, please contact OMNES.

1. 1. References within the text should include, in parentheses, last name of author, year of publication and paging where necessary: (Birt, 1993, p. 3).
2. 2. If the author's name appears in the text, only the year and paging are enclosed in parentheses: Tetlock's study (1985).
3. 3. References to more than one work in a single year by the same author are distinguished by letters following the year: (Herrmann, 1985a, 1985b).
4. 4. For more than two authors, use "et al.": (Kuklilnski et al., 1991).
5. 5. Authors with same last name are distinguished by first initial: (A. Baron, 1989; S. Baron, 1986).
6. 6. Footnotes should be used only for substantive comments. Do not integrate footnotes into the text but provide them at the end of the text.

Review Article

Authors may review articles or other "texts" in order to show how these materials illuminate a larger conceptual or normative concern. Review articles vary in length, averaging about 8,000 words. While review articles sometimes originate in proposals submitted to the editorial office, many result from invitations that our managing editor extends to specific authors.

Book Review

Book Review publishes single, double, and triple book reviews (typically 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 words respectively). The Review section does not accept unsolicited reviews, or we invite reviewers to review particular books. All pieces published in the Book Review section are commissioned and edited by the editor.

An Article Processing Charge (APC):

The APC is payable when your manuscript is editorially accepted and before publication. When it is known that your manuscript is based on a project funded by a third institution, you will be charged 200,000 KRW (approx. US$177) for an APC.
